Join us for the 8th annual Race Through The Woods trail race, sponsored by First National Bank, on Sunday, October 1 at Hidden Valley Nature Center in Jefferson. Are you inspired by the tranquility of running on rustic trails deep in the Maine woods? Do you enjoy the challenge of highly varied terrain, where slippery roots or loose rocks demand your concentration and sharpen your focus? Then you should register for a beautiful fall “Race through the Woods” at Hidden Valley Nature Center. Explore the exciting mix of single and double-track trails over rolling terrain in this challenging racecourse.
Racing starts at 10:00 am. Racers will have two course options to choose from: a 13.1 mile half-marathon or a 5.5 mile race (5.5 milers share the course with half-marathoners, same start time). This single loop course brings you over steep hills, through the woods, past beautiful ponds and has about 1,000 feet elevation.
This race is open to beginners, novices, and experienced trail runners alike. If you’ve never been in a trail race this is a great, fun event to start with. After the race everyone is encouraged to stick around and enjoy a bonfire, hot cider or a beer from Sheepscot Valley Brewing Company one of our sponsors. Light local lunch options will also be available after the races.
Kids 10 years and under can participate in a fun obstacle race starting at about 10:30 am (after the other races have taken off). The race will be only somewhat competitive; the goal is really just to have fun. Each racer will receive a ribbon. Register online using the link below- registration for kids’ race is free. The course will feature small hurdles, jumps, and mazes. After the official race, kids are welcome to enjoy the course at their own pace.
Race fees are $35 for the half marathon, and $25 for the 5.5 miler. Long sleeve technical shirts will be available for purchase with registration. Prizes (homemade PIE!!) will be given to first place finishers (men and women) and in age categories. Prizes will also include local goods donated by businesses and volunteers, and gift certificates to HVNC from Midcoast Conservancy.
Please join us for our 6th annual times race! Proceeds will go directly to the educational programs here at Viles Arboretum and the Maine State Credit Union’s Ending Hunger Campaign. Experience the beauty of Maine in the fall as you run along our trails and running for a cause! If you are a running group of 5 or more people or a school team, we are offering a special rate. Please call our Visitor’s Center 207-626-7989 or email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information on the rate or to sign up!

We’re headed back to where it all started 10 years ago! Join our military, veterans, police, fire, emt’s & the families of our fallen on Saturday, October 20th at Noon on beautiful Ogunquit Beach for an event you’ll never forget!
This incredible event takes place during the Ogunguit Chamber of Commerce’s 15th Annual OgunquitFest Weekend so they’ll be thousands on hand to watch our event! We’ve also partnered up with GoRuck if you’re looking for any gear you might need for the event!
The Ruck for our Fallen is a military-style ruck event which will take place on Ogunquit Beach. This event is to honor ALL of Maine’s Fallen Heroes and give their families a unique bonding experience.
We’re wicked excited to announce that registration for the 2018 Ruck for our Fallen is Open! We have (3) fitness levels so there is something for everyone to enjoy! Slick (Light), Tactical (not so easy), Heavy (where the fun starts!) Get your team together & challenge the others! We’re expecting people from near & far for this first of its kind annual event for our fallen heroes & their families. We look forward to seeing you on Oct 20th! ♥ #MHOFH #MGSFANF #ForThem http://ruckforourfallen.com
This event has something for every fitness level! Slick is actually a 5K walk & minimal pushups & situps at the end. It’s light and fairly easy!
This event is designed as an adult competition. Children under the age of 12 may participate at no cost. They will not be given a t-shirt at the end of the ruck. They will be given awards suitable for children. We’re not giving away free t-shirts. We hope you can understand that this is a charity event.
Team Ruck Competition: The key to this event is to do it as a team. We suggest a team of 4. 6 & 8 members. Team rucks help raise money for a good cause. They also build community relations and help us all share our love for one another.
Individual registrations are also welcome!
