During summer months, the heat is not on. We work a nature’s heat.
Each class is unique and each class targets a peak pose through intelligent sequencing. The class is led with intention as you are properly prepared for the apex of the practice. We work with foundational and primary poses in each practice.

The practice session allows the body to open slowly, not to overload the nervous system, and in exchange, tension, stress, and congestion that has been stored in the muscles and joints now has the opportunity to release. We also work to create strength in the body as we begin to embrace longer holds and include movement. In leaving a class one should have a feeling of stability, strength and a connection to the body.

This class is a dynamic practice. No yoga experience is necessary, as modifications are offered.

About your Instructor: Laurie Chadbourne believes that we all come to yoga with different needs and goals and sometimes we may not even know why we are arriving upon the mat. Yoga calls us in and guides us. Her intention is to create a safe, supportive practice that is accessible for everyone, at every age and every stage of life. She aspires to lead you through compassionate, judgment free, lighthearted classes linking breath and movement as she embarks on the journey of teaching. Robert A. Heinlein inspires her with, “When one teaches, two learn.”

Laurie enjoys reading and playing the guitar. She truly believes laughter may be the best medicine (next to yoga) and brings plenty of that with her on and off the mat.

oin us this summer for our first Camping Retreat in beautiful, picturesque Acadia National Park! This weekend retreat will consist of 3 nights/4 days of camping, hiking, paddleboarding, yoga and the ultimate connection with nature.

Acadia National Park, located on Mount Desert Island, is a stunning national treasure on the coast of Maine. No matter where you explore in this park, the views are spectacular and nature abounds. No wonder this is one of the most visited parks in all of North America!

Acadia National Park offers hiking, biking, camping, breathtaking views of jagged coastlines, and pristine lakes for the nature lover, adventurer and outdoor enthusiast. More than two dozen mountains rise above the rocky shore, including Cadillac Mountain, which at 1,530 feet is the highest point on the U.S. Atlantic coast. There are more than 130 miles of hiking trails to explore by foot and 45 miles of carriage roads to travel by bike. Also, side note: Acadia is one of the best places on the east coast to view the Milky Way and you will LOVE star gazing by the fireside at night

We will be staying at the KOA Oceanside Campground located in Bar Harbor, situated at the head of Mount Desert Island, just 7 miles from the entrance of Acadia National Park. We offer two options for camping accommodations; Comfort shared Cabins or Oceanview Tent sites.

Comfort shared Cabins: These cabins make a great base camp and will provide you with many of the comforts of home and allow you to fully experience Acadia. Tucked back in the Maine woods but still close to the shoreline, you can walk right out your front door and enjoy the sunset. Cabins are equipped with bedding and all linens, a full bathroom with shower, microwave, refrigerator, sink, keurig coffee maker, outdoor grill, air conditioning, WiFi, fire pit, and a TV.

Ocean View Tent sites: A room with a view! All our tent sites offer an Ocean View. Pitch your 2 person tent near the ocean and watch the sky melt into sunset pastels while you warm by the campfire. Enjoy easy access to the sea for swimming and paddleboarding. Bathhouses, laundry, and hot showers are nearby in walking distance. Leashed pets welcome at your campsite.

We’re bringing back our weekly SUP paddles for our 2018 season! Starting on June 14 our staff will lead an early morning paddle from our site at the East End Beach every Thursday. It’s free to join with your own board or just $15 to rent one from us ($10 off the usual rate).

This weekly gathering is a casual paddle open to anyone with some SUP experience who feels comfortable and confident on a board. This isn’t a guided trip, so everyone is responsible for their own safety, but our staff are happy to share their knowledge of the sport. The group will stay on the water for about an hour and will pick a destination that fits the conditions and participants.

WHEN: Every Thursday starting on June 14, 7:00-8:30
WHERE: Portland Paddle’s site at the East End Beach (look for our sign)
WHO: Anyone who is confident and comfortable paddling a SUP on Casco Bay with a group
COST: Free with your own SUP; $15 to rent one from Portland Paddle ($10 off the usual rate)

This class setting is created to be of support to the nervous system. A reset to the system and the opportunity for deep rest are good for the soul, the body and the mind. We come in to a variety of restorative postures to aid in the dropping of an anxious mind. And to support a stressed physical and emotional body. This class goes well in tandem with any of the our other scheduled classes.

If you have a current or old injury you may also attend this class and you will be supported. Please inform Amy accordingly.

We begin with gentle movements to warm the body. This part of the practice includes gliding and circular motions to release tension from areas of congestion and restriction in the body. You are introduced to slower movements of the body in preparation for more movement in the form of Vinyasa. We transition into standing postures to begin to cultivate stability and strength. Props are utilized in the practice as support. The combination of these gentle movements and postures leads to the cultivation of a strong, flexible body.

In this class we slow things down. We begin each practice with slow stretching of the body and preparing the body for movement in the form of Vinyasa. We make our transition into fluid movement at a slower pace, then winding down and easing into restorative. Practicing poses from this easeful state will help develop balance, strength, and resiliency and create a nourishing and rejuvenating experience of yoga.

Warm up your body in the woods, do yoga on the summit!

Hiking Yoga starts at the base of Mount Agamenticus at the entrance to the Ring Trail at 7am. After a 15-minute hike up the 0.3 mile Blueberry Bluff Trail, yoga will start at 7:30 am at the 692-foot summit.

The hike offers the challenge of climbing on exposed bedrock and the delight of expansive views to the south of Pawtuckaway Mountain and the Atlantic Ocean. The Mount Agamenticus Conservation Region’s 10,000 acres is one of the largest remaining expanses of undeveloped forests in coastal New England. It’s known for its vernal pools, rich biodiversity, unique trail system and many of Maine’s rare plants and animals. Take advantage of this gem created by state, local, and non-profit landowners’ efforts to preserve the water, wildlife and land on Mount Agamenticus.

Pricing is $20.
$10 for Veterans, College/High School Students, and Yoga Instructors.
Studio Class Cards or Unlimited Monthly Memberships are applicable.
You should be able to get up and down from the ground with ease to attend this class.
A large tarp is put down so you get minimally sandy/dirty.
Dress in layers, strip down as your body warms up. Wear sunglasses.
Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to check-in and settle in.
We will have extra yoga mats if you need one.
In case of inclement weather, call 207-363-YOGA prior to coming to the beach. Class will be canceled if it is raining.

Welcome to Donut Worry Be Happy Yoga & Bootcamp Summer Series. This family-friendly series encourages participants to move, laugh, and yes indulge in a delicious Holy Donut.

Thryve Fitness will lead you through a yoga or bootcamp class each Sunday in July at Bug Light Park in South Portland. At the conclusion of each class, you are encouraged to hang out, laugh with new friends, and share in your favorite Holy Donut flavor.

This event is for all levels and all ages. While it is for all ages we do encourage your youngest to be at least 5 years old. But we are always willing to make exceptions. So feel free to reach out to us at info@youthryve.com to ensure we can THRYVE will your entire family.

Prices include class and donut. Make sure you indicate on your registration form if you have any specific food allergies or diet restrictions. (Gluten Free or Vegan) We want to ensure you have the Holy Donut that best matches your inner foodie.

This trip combines two of our favorite activities: sea kayaking and yoga! Paddle out to Fort Gorges for a 45-minute yoga session taught by Ashley Flowers, Sarah Graham, or Cayce Lannon.

Fort Gorges, a Civil War-era granite fort surrounded by water, is one of the most fascinating spots in Casco Bay, and it’s only accessible by small boat. The former parade grounds, surrounded by gorgeous granite walls, is a remarkably ideal spot for yoga. The trip will begin with your licensed kayak guide offering a basic kayak lesson and then leading the group on a paddle through Portland harbor and across open water to tiny Hog Island. You’ll land on a beach by the fort’s entrance and explore its elegant granite halls and dark passageways. Make sure you check out the gorgeous view of the Portland skyline from the rooftop!

Then your yoga class will begin in the grassy, calm parade grounds of the fort. You’ll stretch, strengthen and rejuvenate. The yoga class is suitable for all ages & abilities. The kayaking part of the trip is great for all skill levels — even first-time kayakers.

$55 per person. Kayak and paddling gear included.
