Adventures in Art: Hiking, Movement & Dance with Shana Bloomstein @ Rangeley Lake
Oct 19 – Oct 21 all-day
Adventures in Art: Hiking, Movement & Dance with Shana Bloomstein @ Rangeley Lake | Rangeley | Maine | United States

Shana is excited to be offering a weekend retreat with Nancy Zane that will integrate Yoga, creative movement, massage, visual art and journaling with our explorations of the natural world. This weekend hopes to provide a nourishing and grounding environment for everyone to begin a personal reflective journey into somatic movement, create a simple daily practice incorporating massage, yoga and movement, while being effortlessly inspired and in awe of our natural world. It is through our journeying outside that we hope to feel a peace that will allow integration, processing through creative play and movement and an unfolding into our inner emotional and personal landscapes.

This nature based art retreat is for people who want to explore creativity as a means for self-discovery and reflection. It is a retreat integrating movement and art for self-care and exploration. This is an open and non-judgmental environment to freely explore creative self-expression; self-care rituals, and a peaceful time away to delve deeper into you! We intend to explore the healing potential of our minds, bodies and souls together. This weekend retreat in the transformative Autumn air, will fold in the unique offerings of each individual, and is bound to inspire a spiritual connection to our outer world, while we dive deep and tend to our inner landscapes with love and support.

Class is held every other Saturday through Nov. 17!

A little about Jennifer…

Jennifer’s yoga journey began over a decade ago when she took her first power Vinyasa class in 2007. She was recovering from a running injury and seeking an alternative way to manage stress and remain active. She had no idea that yoga would become so much more to her over the years than a regular workout routine. Class after class, Jennifer began to appreciate how yoga has the ability to create strength, flexibility and transformation of our mind, body and soul. It aligns us with gratitude for the present moment and inspires us to lead healthier more purposeful lives. Over the past 10 years, she has practiced many styles of yoga in various studios throughout the country. Jennifer completed her 200hr teacher certification with Leslee Clark of Well Heart Yoga School in Falmouth Maine in 2015 and Yoga Assistant Training with Sue Jones and Ray Mucci of Prana Power Yoga in Cambridge Massachusetts in 2011 and 2017. A Doctor of Physical Therapy practicing locally in Portland, Jennifer is a specialist in pelvic floor, oncology and perinatal rehabilitation. She utilizes her passion for yoga in a holistic approach to healing injury. Her teaching is authentic and playful drawing from her knowledge of anatomy and biomechanics to create a safe and intentional practice for her students. Jennifer believes yoga is truly a gift and feels incredibly grateful to share it with this community.

Vinyasa Yoga w/ Amy @ Threads of Yoga
Oct 20 @ 8:30 am
Vinyasa Yoga w/ Amy @ Threads of Yoga | Bridgton | Maine | United States

The room is heated up to 80 degrees. During summer months, the heat is not on. We work a nature’s heat. This class is great for a good sweat!

Each class is unique and each class targets a peak pose through intelligent sequencing. The class is led with intention as you are properly prepared for the apex of the practice. We work with foundational and primary poses in each practice.

The practice session allows the body to open slowly, not to overload the nervous system, and in exchange, tension, stress, and congestion that has been stored in the muscles and joints now has the opportunity to release. We also work to create strength in the body as we begin to embrace longer holds and include movement. In leaving a class one should have a feeling of stability, strength and a connection to the body.

This class is a dynamic practice. No yoga experience is necessary, as modifications are offered.

Please hydrate properly before the class.

This incredible event takes place during the Ogunguit Chamber of Commerce’s 15th Annual OgunquitFest Weekend so they’ll be thousands on hand to watch our event! We’ve also partnered up with GoRuck if you’re looking for any gear you might need for the event!

The Ruck for our Fallen is a military-style ruck event which will take place on Ogunquit Beach. This event is to honor ALL of Maine’s Fallen Heroes and give their families a unique bonding experience.

We’re wicked excited to announce that registration for the 2018 Ruck for our Fallen is Open! We have (3) fitness levels so there is something for everyone to enjoy! Slick (Light), Tactical (not so easy), Heavy (where the fun starts!) Get your team together & challenge the others! Team Ruck Competition: The key to this event is to do it as a team. We suggest a team of 4. 6 & 8 members. Team rucks help raise money for a good cause. They also build community relations and help us all share our love for one another.

Oct 22 @ 6:00 am – 6:45 am
Biddeford Saco Boot Camp on the beach @ Fortunes Rocks Beach, Middles Beach, Bath House Beach, in Biddeford Pool | Biddeford | Maine | United States

Boot camp uses interval, circuit, and aerobic training. It will burn fat, tone muscle, improve posture, build strength and endurance, and build confidence. You work out your arms, legs, and core using exercises that incorporate your whole body. Boot camp can get you into the best shape of your life. As one of my campers stated, “I am stronger, faster, and leaner”
A typical day includes a warm up, stretches, the ‘workout’, cool down, a possible game or challenge, and finishing stretches.

Boot camps varying routines are intense sessions that offer a variety of exercises, and challenge every muscle in your body. By rapidly moving from one exercise to the next, with minimal breaks, you can get a cardiovascular workout while simultaneously toning your muscles. And, you burn lots of calories. Its fun, varied, motivating, produces amazing results, and meets at a fantastic location.

Boot camp’s 45 minutes workouts allow you to do strength training and aerobic training in a single workout, which is very efficient when you have a limited time to work out.

Yoga and Cancer classes are different from regular yoga classes you would typically find at your local studio. Specific movements and postures along with mindful breathing and meditation techniques help manage stress and support the immune system. Yoga and Cancer will help you build strength, improve flexibility and range of motion and support the health of the cardiac and lymphatic systems.

Yoga calls us in and guides us. Her intention is to create a safe, supportive practice that is accessible for everyone, at every age and every stage of life. She aspires to lead you through compassionate, judgment free, lighthearted classes linking breath and movement as she embarks on the journey of teaching. Robert A. Heinlein inspires her with, “When one teaches, two learn.”

Laurie enjoys reading and playing the guitar. She truly believes laughter may be the best medicine (next to yoga) and brings plenty of that with her on and off the mat.

About your instructor: The landscape of Amy Figoli’s teaching is to hold the intention for people to find a way in, to meet the totality of oneself through asana practice, as well as working with the ability to begin to listen to what is arising. Learning to not override the currently pushing language of culture and of our bodies. To hold the space for silence, and listen inquisitively to how the body speaks.

Endless Trails Runner’s Weekend @ Mt. Chase Lodge
Oct 26 – Oct 28 all-day
Endless Trails Runner's Weekend @ Mt. Chase Lodge | Patten | Maine | United States

Want to get away and devote a little time to your trail-running training?

Why not take advantage of cooler fall temperatures and the wilds of the Katahdin Woods and Waters area and make a weekend of it? Whether you are just looking for some exercise or training for an Ultra Marathon, runners of all experience levels are welcome!

Join Mike Downing, co-owner of Mt. Chase Lodge, and his former teammate Rob Gomez, of Eastern Shore Training and a RRCA-ceritified running coach, for a full weekend of running adventure. Arrive mid-afternoon on Friday to join him and your fellow adventurers for a shake-out run followed by a gourmet lakeside dinner. Following dinner there will be a roundtable discussion to introduce everyone, determine what people would like to get out of the weekend, and decide how many groups we may need split up into during runs. Afterwards, relax on the outdoor patio or stretch in the lodge that evening to be ready for the next day’s scenic run.

Saturday will include a healthy breakfast, a group steady-state run, and an afternoon of hiking, kayaking or stand-up paddle boarding. Bag lunches will be included for Saturday. Expect break-out discussions about nutrition, stretching methods, cross training, and how to make the most of your training time.

Sunday morning will include a light breakfast before the weekend’s longest jaunt. All starting together, we will set out on a run with scenic views of the surrounding mountains and eventually split up to meet everyone’s long run goals. After the long run, cool off in Upper Shin Pond and celebrate with an ample brunch before you pack up to head home.

All participants will be expected to complete a brief questionnaire to determine experience levels.

Ready to run? Grab some friends or come solo – just book soon to reserve your spot!

Beginners Yoga w/ Marcia @ Threads of Yoga | Bridgton | Maine | United States

We begin with gentle movements to warm the body. This part of the practice includes gliding and circular motions to release tension from areas of congestion and restriction in the body. You are introduced to slower movements of the body in preparation for more movement in the form of Vinyasa. We transition into standing postures to begin to cultivate stability and strength. Props are utilized in the practice as support. The combination of these gentle movements and postures leads to the cultivation of a strong, flexible body.

Vinyasa Yoga w/ Amy @ Threads of Yoga
Oct 27 @ 8:30 am
