Yoga for Stiff Guys @ Breathing Room: Yoga & Movement Studio
Dec 16 @ 11:30 am – 1:30 pm
Yoga for Stiff Guys @ Breathing Room: Yoga & Movement Studio | South Portland | Maine | United States

Yoga for Stiff Guys is a full spectrum class designed for the stiff guys of this world.

This workshop is designed both for athletes and “regular guys” who are interested in increasing their flexibility. Working out, running, cycling, and long periods of sitting are among ways that we create restriction, stress, and tension in the body. This workshop will unravel restricted mobility, lengthen & strengthen muscles, help dissolve stress patterns, reduce the possibility of injury through sports, and increase your stamina.

For the beginner Stiff Guy this will be a solid introduction to yoga and its benefits, and for the Stiff Guy with some experience on the mat this class will be informative and offer the opportunity to deepen and refine one’s practice.

Investment: $25
This workshop is limited to 12 participants
Designed for Men Only

About the Teacher:
Brian Danz has been practicing and teaching yoga for over 5 years, with a focus on Yin yoga as active recovery for athletes. His passions for outdoor sports and recreation and particular experience as a mountain biker help to bring a unique focus to his teaching style. Brian lives in Portland, and is currently pursuing a degree in Nursing. When he’s not hitting the books or his mat, you’ll find him riding on the trails of Greater Portland with his dog, Arrow.

Winter Solstice – Vinyasa/Yin Yoga @ The Rooted Collective
Dec 20 @ 6:45 pm – 8:30 pm
Winter Solstice - Vinyasa/Yin Yoga @ The Rooted Collective | Portland | Maine | United States

Sun Stand Still – A Journey into Darkness, A Journey into Light

The word Solstice means Sun Stand Still. For the three days surrounding the Solstice, the sun appears to stop its movements, before the days begin to lengthen and the Light slowly begins its return.
During this time, nature invites us to embrace the restfulness of the Darkness and breathe in the stillness. Can we have our own personal solstice so that we can harness the Darkness to open to the deepest truths of our being that tend to shy away from the light?

Join Maria Wagner and Cathleen Wasielewski for a full-spectrum Yang to Yin yoga practice and Solstice ritual honoring the path of Darkness to Light. We will begin with a Vinyasa Flow and then transition to the deep meditative stillness of Yin Yoga. We invite you during the business of the holiday season to answer the call of Nature and gift yourself this opportunity for self-care, reflection, and community; to honor your inner light and the collective light of one another.
