You work out your arms, legs, and core using exercises that incorporate your whole body. Boot camp can get you into the best shape of your life. As one of my campers stated, “I am stronger, faster, and leaner”
A typical day includes a warm up, stretches, the ‘workout’, cool down, a possible game or challenge, and finishing stretches.

Boot camps varying routines are intense sessions that offer a variety of exercises, and challenge every muscle in your body. By rapidly moving from one exercise to the next, with minimal breaks, you can get a cardiovascular workout while simultaneously toning your muscles. And, you burn lots of calories. Its fun, varied, motivating, produces amazing results, and meets at a fantastic location.

Boot camp’s 45 minutes workouts allow you to do strength training and aerobic training in a single workout, which is very efficient when you have a limited time to work out.

>Historic Workouts is working with the Town of Kennebunk this year for beach classes! Pilates Strength and Core will take place every Friday morning at Kennebunk Beach (Gooches Beach by the Seaside Inn) in Kennebunk, Maine at 8:30AM from May 25 through September 7 (4 sessions).

This 60-minute awesome beach workout is designed for all fitness levels that begins with a proper warm-up followed by an energetic and intense mat-based, Pilates inspired, strength training workout using your own body weight and finishing with stretch and flexibility. Moreover, this dynamic total body workout challenges you by working more than one muscle group at a time all while transitioning from one exercise to the next, without a lot of rest in between, testing your strength, endurance, core, and more. If you’re looking for a workout that will help increase muscle strength, develop a stronger core, reduce body fat, ease low back pain, improve flexibility and balance, as well as to help support mental well-being, then this class is for you. With this equipment-free workout all you need to bring is sunscreen, plenty of water, and a yoga mat or towel. Warm up your body in the woods, do yoga on the summit!

Hiking Yoga starts at the base of Mount Agamenticus at the entrance to the Ring Trail at 7am. After a 15-minute hike up the 0.3 mile Blueberry Bluff Trail, yoga will start at 7:30 am at the 692-foot summit.

The hike offers the challenge of climbing on exposed bedrock and the delight of expansive views to the south of Pawtuckaway Mountain and the Atlantic Ocean. The Mount Agamenticus Conservation Region’s 10,000 acres is one of the largest remaining expanses of undeveloped forests in coastal New England. It’s known for its vernal pools, rich biodiversity, unique trail system and many of Maine’s rare plants and animals. Take advantage of this gem created by state, local, and non-profit landowners’ efforts to preserve the water, wildlife and land on Mount Agamenticus.

Pricing is $20.
$10 for Veterans, College/High School Students, and Yoga Instructors.
Studio Class Cards or Unlimited Monthly Memberships are applicable.
You should be able to get up and down from the ground with ease to attend this class.
A large tarp is put down so you get minimally sandy/dirty.
Dress in layers, strip down as your body warms up. Wear sunglasses.
Please arrive 10-15 minutes early to check-in and settle in.
We will have extra yoga mats if you need one.
In case of inclement weather, call 207-363-YOGA prior to coming to the beach. Class will be canceled if it is raining.

Attention all animal-loving yogis! Have you heard of Graze in Peace? This wonderful place is a farm animal sanctuary and care farm in Durham Maine. They offer lifelong homes to rescued farm animals. Their mission follows a similar path to yogic principles: founded in 2006 by vegan co-founders Deborah and Carl Schwink, the farm is dedicated to providing a caring home to rescued and unwanted farm animals. They also provide a space for healing, learning and reacquainting with personal power through nature for humans too – people are welcome to walk their grounds and observe the animals, as well as participate in programs designed to re-establish connection between human beings and animals traditionally considered food or livestock.

Hustle and Flow is humbled to offer a power flow class led by Liz Kovarsky at Graze in Peace on August 19th! Liz will guide participants through her loving, supportive power flow out on the farmland with a group of the farm residents – including pigs, sheep, chickens and llamas – as they do what farm animals do… enjoy the land and the abundance of nature.

We humans spend a lot of time indoors, and we all know that it is healthy to get outside to a place where we can’t hear cars whizzing past or sirens blaring. But it’s also important for us to understand where our food comes from. Whether you are a meat eater, vegetarian, vegan or any shade of green in between, understanding the power of these animals is a gift.

For instance, did you know that at just two weeks old, piglets can recognize their mother’s voice, and will run toward her when she calls them? Some mother pigs have been observed singing to their piglets when they’re nursing. Plus, once adults, pigs can run up to 11 miles per hour. That’s a five and a half minute mile – if you’re a runner, you know how fast that is.

All of these animals have knowledge and power to share with us, and a story to tell about our culture’s ideas about farm animals. I’ve never become acquainted with a pig, sheep or llama, but of the chickens I’ve known, some of them are cuddlers and want to be held or petted, while others are little jerks who are moody and unpredictable. Just like us! And just as there is a place for each of us, Graze in Peace makes a place for every farm animal they can accommodate who needs a healthy home.

Hustle and Flow will be donating a portion of the funds from this class to Graze in Peace to help support their operation and the expansion of the farm to help more animals and visitors. Please join us for this very special day of learning in the joy of movement with our four-legged and winged friends.
