Island Open House on The Goslings in Casco Bay @ Mere Point Boat Launch
Jul 20 @ 10:00 am – 3:00 pm
Island Open House on The Goslings in Casco Bay @ Mere Point Boat Launch | Brunswick | Maine | United States

Maine Coast Heritage Trust will be offering FREE boat shuttles to The Goslings islands in upper Casco Bay!

Connected by a sand bar at low tide, small beaches on the two Goslings offer a perfect place to soak up the sun or search for treasures carried in on the tide. Explore the shady island interiors or climb around the perimeter of the islands and bring your binoculars to spy on the seal colony on the nearby rock ledges.

We’ll be grilling hot dogs on the beach to complete the perfect island getaway and laidback vibe of a visit to The Goslings. The large cove is often scattered with local boaters rafted together to enjoy the great pleasure of a warm summer day in Maine. If you have your own boat, meet us there!

Boat Shuttles:
Shuttles to the island will depart from the Mere Point public boat launch on Birch Island Road, Brunswick between the hours of 10 am and 1:30 pm. (The final shuttle will return from the island at 2:45 pm)

We’ll travel aboard open skiffs which can accommodate 5-8 people at a time. The ride to the Goslings is approximately 15 minutes. We will provide mandatory life vests or bring your own if you have one.

Participants must be agile enough to step off the dock into a small boat and then climb out over the side of the boat onto the beach at the island. At The Goslings, be prepared to get your feet wet as we bump up on the beach to disembark.

This trip is appropriate (and encouraged!) for children.

The shuttles will depart from the boat launch approximately every 15 minutes between 10:00 am and 1:30 pm. The last boat over to the island leaves at 1:30 pm.

We will be sending people to the island in order of arrival at the boat launch.

There is no charge for this event. We recommend you register online for this event ( so we know how many people to expect – but this does not guarantee your spot on a boat. Please sign in with the MCHT greeters upon your arrival at the dock.

What to Bring:

Wear footwear appropriate for climbing along on the rocky shoreline, sandy beaches, and paths. Be prepared to get your feet wet disembarking from the boat at the island. Wear a bathing suit and bring a towel if you’d like to swim.

There are no bathroom facilities on the islands or boats. Please be prepared to carry any waste off the island. There are bathroom facilities at the boat launch on the mainland.
