Join North Star Adventures for a spectacular hike up Tunk Mountain. Tunk Mountain, elevation 1,157′, is located near Cherryfield Maine. It is a beautiful, moderate, 1.8 mile (one way) hike. It does steepen near the top and had two metal rungs to assist you over a boulder. The hike is gorgeous. There are views of the surrounding peaks, lakes, and the ocean. Join us for this amazing hike not to far from Acadia National Park. We have the option to add on an extra mile and loop around Salmon Pond making the total mileage 4.6. Lunch at the top will be from local organic ingredients. After our day of hiking we will take a stop at Tunk Lake for a dip in the crisp clear water…there is even a small sand beach.
The day begins with a canoe exploration of the wetlands and islands of Unity Pond. After several hours of exploring we will have lunch made from local organic ingredients. Following lunch artist Jim MacDonald will work with you to create a functional maple cutting board. We finish the day by paddling back to our starting point with a champagne toast.
During this two day course participants will learn and teach the principles of Leave No Trace. We will discuss the impact of human activity on the ocean and island environments. Each participant will be required to present a short (15-20 minute) class on one of the principles of Leave No Trace. We will camping on and exploring the Islands off the coast of Maine.
Spend four unforgettable days in the Rangeley Lakes Region of Western Maine. Known for remote islands, and 4000’ mountains this is a perfect venue to challenge yourself physically, mentally and creatively. Immerse yourself in the awe inspiring scenery as you open yourself to your creative inspiration and physical challenges.
Making art is like walking in the forest: we slow down, come back to ourselves, yield to a deeper source of knowing. In this workshop we’ll go walking mindfully on easy to moderate wildland trails of our local land trust through forest and marshland, softening our gaze, opening ourselves to light, pattern, and impressions, welcoming amazement. Then we’ll return to our light-filled studio to do Touch Drawing, a simple yet profound process. Paper is placed over wet paint and the pressure of the fingertips creates images on the underside. Even an unconfident artist can experience the fulfillment of seeing their interior life come alive on paper as multiple new images emerge (view a one minute video at http://touchdrawing.com/touchdrawing/). No art experience is necessary.
Designed for women of all ages and abilities. If you have always dreamed of backpacking but aren’t sure where to go or who do go with than this trip is for you. Yes, you will work hard but, you will have the experience of a lifetime. Backpacking will challenge you physically, mentally and spiritually. The mountains are a special place to get in touch with your authentic self and challenge those voices that keep you from reaching your potential. We create a safe environment where you can be yourself and face your challenges in a non-judgemental and supportive environment.
Explore Penobscot Bay and the Holbrook Island area with North Star Adventures and Cloe Chunn. Cloe is a co-founder of the Maine Master Naturalist Program. Spend the day in the company of Harbor seals, osprey, guillemots, eiders, loons, and cormorants. Launching from Brooksville, Maine we will spend the day observing and recording the tranquility of Maine islands and critters that make them their home. Nature journaling allows you to gain a deeper respect and awareness for the beauty and fragility of the earth. It is an opportunity for personal growth and discovery, and connection with the natural world.
Exploring wild places, sharing them with others, and feeling her connection to Mother Earth, are what keep Cloe happy.
Experience the Grand Canyon of the East as we explore the Gulf Hagas region of Maine. We will camp on the Pleasant River. After an evening around a bonfire and stargazing you will be rocked to sleep by the gentle rhythm of the river.
Once again we have the pleasure of working with Stephanie Wade as she joins our community to inspire and ignite our creative self. We will engage all our senses as we immerse ourselves in the natural environment. Autumn is a time of transformation both internally and in the outer world. With inspiration from the natural world you have the opportunity to engage in poetry or prose. To build community, we will share informal writing, develop the ability to listen to each other, and practice asking good questions. We will conclude with a celebration of our work and our connections to nature.
Shana is excited to be offering a weekend retreat with Nancy Zane that will integrate Yoga, creative movement, massage, visual art and journaling with our explorations of the natural world. This weekend hopes to provide a nourishing and grounding environment for everyone to begin a personal reflective journey into somatic movement, create a simple daily practice incorporating massage, yoga and movement, while being effortlessly inspired and in awe of our natural world. It is through our journeying outside that we hope to feel a peace that will allow integration, processing through creative play and movement and an unfolding into our inner emotional and personal landscapes.
This nature based art retreat is for people who want to explore creativity as a means for self-discovery and reflection. It is a retreat integrating movement and art for self-care and exploration. This is an open and non-judgmental environment to freely explore creative self-expression; self-care rituals, and a peaceful time away to delve deeper into you! We intend to explore the healing potential of our minds, bodies and souls together. This weekend retreat in the transformative Autumn air, will fold in the unique offerings of each individual, and is bound to inspire a spiritual connection to our outer world, while we dive deep and tend to our inner landscapes with love and support.
