Ovens Mouth Preserve is the perfect hike for new hikers, kid hikers, or anyone who wants to get into the woods for couple hours (with a lunch stop at a perfectly placed bench overlooking the water) for a leisurely and supremely scenic hike.
If you've been to Pawtuckaway already - located in Nottingham, New Hampshire, about an hour and a half from Portland - then I don't need to tell you about its charming moss-covered forest floor, its enormous glacial erratics, its mellow ponds and rad fire tower.
At Oxbow Beer Garden in Oxford, you can cross-county ski, snowshoe, or fat bike on the trails - for free - then head inside the restaurant for pizza and beer. Maybe head out back and loiter by the bonfire if you're so inclined.
Now is probably a good time to acquire a fitness routine, both because it's good for your health and also to prevent yourself from going downright stir crazy in your living room in the coming weeks. Supporting a local studio/gym/trainer sure is swell, too.
