Boot camp uses interval, circuit, and aerobic training. It will burn fat, tone muscle, improve posture, build strength and endurance, and build confidence. You work out your arms, legs, and core using exercises that incorporate your whole body. Boot camp can get you into the best shape of your life. As one of my campers stated, “I am stronger, faster, and leaner”
A typical day includes a warm up, stretches, the ‘workout’, cool down, a possible game or challenge, and finishing stretches.

Boot camps varying routines are intense sessions that offer a variety of exercises, and challenge every muscle in your body. By rapidly moving from one exercise to the next, with minimal breaks, you can get a cardiovascular workout while simultaneously toning your muscles. And, you burn lots of calories. Its fun, varied, motivating, produces amazing results, and meets at a fantastic location.

Boot camp’s 45 minutes workouts allow you to do strength training and aerobic training in a single workout, which is very efficient when you have a limited time to work out.

We begin with gentle movements to warm the body. This part of the practice includes gliding and circular motions to release tension from areas of congestion and restriction in the body. Props are utilized in the practice as support. The combination of these gentle movements and postures leads to the cultivation of a strong, flexible body.

You’ll begin the evening with a step-by-step introduction to the basic techniques for enjoying this invigorating aerobic activity. Our expert instructors will teach you how to stride, pole and turn, plus give you friendly advice and tips on navigating different types of terrain.

You’ll then practice what you’ve learned on a three-hour guided ski excursion on our groomed trails at Fogg Farm in Freeport. Along the way, your guides will share their knowledge of the wildlife that thrives in this winter environment. After enjoying the scenery and refreshing winter air, you’ll be treated to rich hot cocoa and some tasty snacks. We’ll also provide all the necessary cross-country ski equipment for this exceptional adventure.

Wilderness First Aid (WFA) creates a solid foundation in the basics of backcountry medical care. It is 16 hours long (two days), and focuses on the basic skills of: Response and Assessment, Musculoskeletal Injuries, Environmental Emergencies, Survival Skills, Soft Tissue Injuries, and Medical Emergencies.

This is an incredible course! Not only will you gain the skills you need to care for people in a remote location. But, you will have a fantastic time…it is fun and fast moving. There will be a mix of classroom sessions, practice sessions and outdoor scenarios. Check out some of the program reviews!

The room is heated up to 80 degrees. During summer months, the heat is not on. We work a nature’s heat. This class is great for a good sweat!

Each class is unique and each class targets a peak pose through intelligent sequencing. The class is led with intention as you are properly prepared for the apex of the practice. We work with foundational and primary poses in each practice.

The practice session allows the body to open slowly, not to overload the nervous system, and in exchange, tension, stress, and congestion that has been stored in the muscles and joints now has the opportunity to release. We also work to create strength in the body as we begin to embrace longer holds and include movement. In leaving a class one should have a feeling of stability, strength and a connection to the body.

This class is a dynamic practice. No yoga experience is necessary, as modifications are offered.

Students will be introduced to yoga poses through step by step verbal description and demonstration. Emphasis is placed on student understanding, safety, and stability within each pose. Props and posture modifications are offered to accommodate new or tighter bodies. No yoga experience is necessary. Class is open to all ages.

About your Instructor: Laurie Chadbourne believes that we all come to yoga with different needs and goals and sometimes we may not even know why we are arriving upon the mat. Yoga calls us in and guides us. Her intention is to create a safe, supportive practice that is accessible for everyone, at every age and every stage of life. She aspires to lead you through compassionate, judgment free, lighthearted classes linking breath and movement as she embarks on the journey of teaching. Robert A. Heinlein inspires her with, “When one teaches, two learn.”

Laurie enjoys reading and playing the guitar. She truly believes laughter may be the best medicine (next to yoga) and brings plenty of that with her on and off the mat.

Ok, not quite a full moon- but we can still get out under a BIG moon- and get you psyched for the supermoon lunar eclipse happening on Sunday of the same weekend! Join us for a Friday afternoon/ evening hike under the moon at Holt Pond. We’ll snowshoe out to the bog and back, with headlamps (or without!) and enjoy the winter moon. Please be prepared with extra layers, snacks, water, and headlamp. Let us know if you’d like to borrow some snowshoes! Let alanna@leamaine.org know if you are interested in joining in the fun! Please note that winter parking for Holt Pond is on the corner of Perley and Chaplins Mill Roads, please carpool if possible!

Midcoast Conservancy will offer a full moon hike (or snowshoe, depending on conditions) at Hidden Valley Nature Center in Jefferson. Enjoy a crisp evening illuminated by the glow of the moon and discover a new way of being in the woods. At night, sounds become more pronounced; listen for owls and the rustling of nighttime foragers along the trail.
Meet at the gate at HVNC at 4:30 pm. Dress warmly, wear shoes/boots with good grips and a hiking stick if desired, snack, drink and flashlight or headlamp. Guide Chuck Dinsmore will lead the hike to shore of Little Dyer Pond, to watch the moon rise over the water. The hike will be about 40 minutes each way, and of moderate ease. Snowshoes are available by reservation, or bring your own, if we have snow.

Boot camp uses interval, circuit, and aerobic training. It will burn fat, tone muscle, improve posture, build strength and endurance, and build confidence. You work out your arms, legs, and core using exercises that incorporate your whole body. Boot camp can get you into the best shape of your life. As one of my campers stated, “I am stronger, faster, and leaner”
A typical day includes a warm up, stretches, the ‘workout’, cool down, a possible game or challenge, and finishing stretches.

Boot camps varying routines are intense sessions that offer a variety of exercises, and challenge every muscle in your body. By rapidly moving from one exercise to the next, with minimal breaks, you can get a cardiovascular workout while simultaneously toning your muscles. And, you burn lots of calories. Its fun, varied, motivating, produces amazing results, and meets at a fantastic location.

Boot camp’s 45 minutes workouts allow you to do strength training and aerobic training in a single workout, which is very efficient when you have a limited time to work out.

Spend the full moon with us on the farm as we read “Owl Moon” by Jane Yolen and take a brief evening walk through the wintery forest and fields. Maybe we will even spot an owl. Warm up after with some socialization around the campfire.

Walk times: 4:00pm, 4:30pm, 5:00pm

It is important to show up on time for your selected walk, as we will be leaving the classroom and heading outdoors.

The room is heated up to 80 degrees.
During summer months, the heat is not on. We work a nature’s heat.
Each class is unique and each class targets a peak pose through intelligent sequencing. The class is led with intention as you are properly prepared for the apex of the practice. We work with foundational and primary poses in each practice.

The practice session allows the body to open slowly, not to overload the nervous system, and in exchange, tension, stress, and congestion that has been stored in the muscles and joints now has the opportunity to release. We also work to create strength in the body as we begin to embrace longer holds and include movement. In leaving a class one should have a feeling of stability, strength and a connection to the body.

This class is a dynamic practice. No yoga experience is necessary, as modifications are offered.
