WHO? Good People. [age, athletic ability, social status, ethnicity – not applicable] In other words, this is for EVERYONE.

WHAT? FREE outdoor sweat session. Workouts are scalable and FUN. The sweat session will challenge you, the atmosphere will change you.

WHERE? Various locations in Portland (Baxter Boulevard/Back Cove Trail, Eastern Prom, City Hall.). See for each week’s location

WHEN? Wednesdays at 6:29 AM – Rain or Shine

WHY? Because sometimes we need a reminder to wake up and get moving. It’s your accountability, motivation and reason to get in shape.

The beginner class focuses on the fundamental principles of alignment and a sequence of postures linked together by the breath. Students will be introduced to yoga poses through step by step verbal description and demonstration. Emphasis is placed on student understanding, safety, and stability within each pose. Props and posture modifications are offered to accommodate new or tighter bodies. No yoga experience is necessary. Class is open to all ages.

About your Instructor: Laurie Chadbourne believes that we all come to yoga with different needs and goals and sometimes we may not even know why we are arriving upon the mat. Yoga calls us in and guides us. Her intention is to create a safe, supportive practice that is accessible for everyone, at every age and every stage of life. She aspires to lead you through compassionate, judgment free, lighthearted classes linking breath and movement as she embarks on the journey of teaching. Robert A. Heinlein inspires her with, “When one teaches, two learn.”

Laurie enjoys reading and playing the guitar. She truly believes laughter may be the best medicine (next to yoga) and brings plenty of that with her on and off the mat.

We begin with gentle movements to warm the body. This part of the practice includes gliding and circular motions to release tension from areas of congestion and restriction in the body. You are introduced to slower movements of the body in preparation for more movement in the form of Vinyasa. We transition into standing postures to begin to cultivate stability and strength. Props are utilized in the practice as support. The combination of these gentle movements and postures leads to the cultivation of a strong, flexible body.
No yoga experience is necessary

Ok, not quite a full moon- but we can still get out under a BIG moon- and get you psyched for the supermoon lunar eclipse happening on Sunday of the same weekend! Join us for a Friday afternoon/ evening hike under the moon at Holt Pond. We’ll snowshoe out to the bog and back, with headlamps (or without!) and enjoy the winter moon. Please be prepared with extra layers, snacks, water, and headlamp. Let us know if you’d like to borrow some snowshoes! Let know if you are interested in joining in the fun! Please note that winter parking for Holt Pond is on the corner of Perley and Chaplins Mill Roads, please carpool if possible!

Moderate 2.4 mile round trip hike up Noyes Mountain to catch the sunset. Meet at 172 Richardson Hollow Road, Greenwood. Weather permitting, bring snowshoes and headlamps.
