We’re bringing back our weekly SUP paddles for our 2019 season! Starting on June 6 our staff will lead an early morning paddle from our site at the East End Beach every Thursday. It’s free to join with your own board or just $15 to rent one from us ($10 off the usual rate).
This weekly gathering is a casual paddle open to anyone with some SUP experience who feels comfortable and confident on a board. This isn’t a guided trip, so everyone is responsible for their own safety and it’s not a good fit for total novices. That said, our staff are happy to share their knowledge of the sport and offer tips and support. The group will stay on the water for about an hour and will pick a destination that fits the conditions and participants.
A note about weather: If we need to cancel a weekly paddle due to weather conditions we will post an update on our Meetup page and on Facebook.
Join us Thursday nights from May-September as we partner with L.L.Bean for our weekly Bike & Brew rides. The 22- mile route begins and ends at Maine Beer Company, and is a self-supported, moderate skill group ride through the back roads of Freeport, Yarmouth, North Yarmouth, and Pownal. Check in at Maine Beer Company between 4:30-5:15(you will need to fill out 2 waivers-only need to do this once), the ride leaves around 5:15, and is followed by a beer on your return.

Do you run? Do you walk? Do you Run and walk? Well We are S.A.S and we want to run with you!!! Join us at the Pine Point entrance on the Eastern Trail for a 2.5-5 mile run! Free to all.
Fort Gorges, the beautiful granite structure that sits surrounded by water in Casco Bay, is the perfect setting for live music and an ideal kayaking destination!
Cost is $65 per person (includes sea kayak, guide, live music).
If you love hearing live music and you’re into outdoor adventure, this is the sea kayak trip for you! This unique combination of kayaking, live music and history is easily our favorite trip and we’re really excited to bring it back for the 2019 season. Acoustic Paddle is an experience that involves paddling to historic Fort Gorges for a performance by a musician surrounded by the granite walls of the fort. There’s also time for exploring the fort and enjoying gorgeous panoramic views of Casco Bay and the Portland skyline. To top it all off, we paddle back to the mainland as the sun is setting.
OUR 2019 ARTISTS:
June 23: Caroline Cotter
July 14: Sara Hallie Richardson
July 28: Emilia Dahlin
August 11: Fort Gorgeous
August 25: Sorcha Cribben-Merrill
The trips start at 3:30 at Portland Paddle’s East End Beach shop. Portland Paddle’s guides will gear everyone up and provide some paddling tips before the group heads out into the bay to explore the islands of Portland harbor on our way to Fort Gorges. We’ll look out for seals, sea bird and other sights as we make our way across the open waters of the bay.
After some paddling, we’ll arrive at the Fort to settle in for a set of live music. Every Acoustic Paddle features a performance by a different talented artist. The fort provides a perfect setting and the acoustics are incredible. We’ll also provide a small spread of snacks to enjoy as we listen. After the music winds down, we’ll paddle back to the East End just before darkness settles over the harbor.
**Reservations required to join the tour**
Come on out and join the Runaways Run Club for a free, all levels 3.5 mile group run around the Back Cove Trail in Portland every Tuesday. This is an informal and fun group run, go at whatever pace you’d like, for first placers to first timers! We’re meeting at Payson Park at the parking lot nearest to the trail / Baxter Blvd and we’ll be taking off on the run no later than 6:05am, just FYI. See you there!
