Come explore another beautiful farm that MFT helped to protect in 2016. We’ll ski or hike around the many trails that surround High View Farm, stopping in the farm yurt for a hot drink and conversation with farmers Bill and Darcy about their land and their hopes for the future. All ages and experience welcome. Bring your own skis/snowshoes or winter boots! Free for MFT members, $5 donation suggested for non-members. Please RSVP to Caroline@mainefarmlandtrust.org // 207-338-6575 x 305.
Join us up at The Poland Spring Inn, Golf Course for the first 5k snowshoe race, run. This race is free but donations towards next years events will be accepted.
Since this is a free event people attending need to be self reliant. You should bring your own drink to drink, snacks, etc. There will not be awards or tee shirts. You will be responsible for timing yourself to see how you do.
Next year will be bigger and better, this year is just a fun run.
Let’s get out, enjoy winter and get some exercise too! Join SMH and Lorie Olson, Maine native and avid hiker, as we snowshoe 3.2 miles through some easy and moderate trails at Maggie’s Nature Park, which provides beautiful views of the surrounding area from open ledges. Remember to dress warm – layers are recommended.
New England’s premier winter triathlon! Offering Snowshoe (first leg), Fat Bike OR ski (second leg) and run (third leg) or bring the entire family and run a fun snow 5k only option. Know a friend who has snowshoes and another with skis? Come and participate in the relay division. This triathlon will provide a great way to break up the winter doldrums, get outside and off the trainer. With scenic courses and stunning views this race is sure to please both the first timer looking for a fun event to get outside and experienced triathlete alike.
10:00a Tentative Start Time
(no need to get up early, it’s winter and we have no reason to start in the dark!)
The Moose on the Loose triathlon was conceived as a collaboration between TriME and the Meadows Golf Club to provide an opportunity to take advantage of the trails and club house of the Meadows Golf Club and world class operations of TriME to produce a winter triathlon the experienced triathlete and outdoor enthusiast will both enjoy. Proceeds will benefit the Litchfield Snowmobile Club.
Information will soon be added on a friendly, fun and free kids race (run or snowshoe a special loop just for the kids!).
Included with your entry: Race swag, great post race food and of course a scenic, safe, closed course through Litchfield, Maine.
Experience the North Maine Woods with a Maine Guide. Stay in a rustic cabin, enjoy family style meals, cross-country ski or snowshoe, and learn the winter constellations. Bring your friends, family and neighbors for a true Maine winter experience.
March is the perfect winter month! Daylight has started to return, the temperatures are reasonable and we have a lot of snow! Our winter weekend will take us to Rockwood Maine where we still stay in a rustic cabin on Moosehead Lake. We will be skiing on groomed trails and have the option (conditions permitting) to ski over to Kineo and ski around the base (or maybe hike to the top). Arrival time is 4:00pm on Friday…in time for dinner and perhaps a nighttime ski or snowshoe. All meals and accomodations are included. Designed for beginners and intermediate skiers.
Tanglewood Camp in Lincolnville Maine is the setting for this Winter Watercolor Adventure. We will either snowshoe or hike the trails along the Ducktrap River. In my mind this is one of the most beautiful and peaceful watersheds on the mid-coast. The sparkling water, ice crystals, suspension bridge and forest ecosystem are spectacular. Using this backdrop for inspiration artist and teacher Lesia Sochor will guide students in painting with watercolors. By observing the natural surroundings, weather permitting, students will do quick watercolor studies coming back to enlarge or combine what they’ve seen by painting indoors. If it is too cold to paint plein air, photographs will be taken of the environment and paintings made from them.
