National Trails Day 10-Mile Hike @ Starts at at Blueberry Rd. on the Stroudwater Trail

Celebrate National Trails Day on our annual 10-mile Forest City Trail hike, guided by co-founder Tom Jewell, City of Portland Parks and Recreation Director Ethan Hipple and Portland Trails Executive Director Kara Wooldrik. Explore hidden gems throughout Portland on a cross-city urban hike from the Stroudwater River to the Presumpscot River.

We’ll start early on Saturday at Blueberry Rd. on the Stroudwater Trail and hike the entire Forest City trail across town, hitting the Fore River Sanctuary, Evergreen Cemetery, and lots of neighborhood trails. We end at the Presumpscot River and the beautiful falls. Grab your hiking boots, pack your lunch, and get ready to see Portland as you’ve never before!

$20 per participant. Registration is required.

We have a cap on the number of participants for this hike. So, please register early! Please plan on joining us for the entire hike. No dogs, strollers, or bikes. Thanks!

Full Moon Hike at Hatchery Brook Preserve @ Hatchery Brook Preserve
Jun 17 @ 8:00 pm – 9:30 pm

Experience the sights and sounds of the forest at night during one of our Full Moon Hikes at Hatchery Brook Preserve. Night hiking is a unique experience everyone should experience. This hike will give plenty of opportunities to view the Village of Rangeley at night, so bring your camera!

Hikers should dress appropriately and wear trail shoes or boots. Please bring a flashlight in case of cloudy conditions (No headlamps please). Some parts of the trail have roots, uneven terrain and sections of bog-bridging. Participants should be in good health with no walking or night vision difficulties.

The hike will be led by RLHT staff. Registration is not required but requested. Register by calling (207) 864-7311. Ask for Amanda or leave a message. The hike is about 2 miles in length and starts at 6 p.m. at the Trailhead.

Marshall Island Hike @ Marshall Island

Board a chartered boat for a day-long island adventure to Marshall Island with Maine Coast Heritage Trust. Tucked between Swan’s Island and Isle au Haut on the eastern edge of Jericho Bay, MCHT’s Ed Woodsum Preserve encompasses all 985 acres of Marshall Island, one of the largest undeveloped islands on the eastern seaboard.

Departing from Bass Harbor on Mount Desert Island, we’ll motor to Marshall Island for a five-mile hike along wooded shoreline paths, rocky coves, and through the interior of this beautiful, remote island.

We’ll follow the trails to Popplestone Cove, Boxam Cove, and stop for a picnic lunch along the way. We’ll leave time to enjoy the beach at Sand Cove – arguably Maine’s most spectacular sand beach – and definitely one of the most remote!
