The costumed fun begins Friday night at Evo Rock and Fitness in Portland during their Headlamp Climbing event. They’ll turn down the overhead lights and you’ll climb by the light of your headlamp from 7-9 p.m. Costumes are encouraged – in fact, everyone who wears a costume climbs for free.
Wicked Weird and Totally Freaky Trick or Treat Trot by the Lake

On Saturday, head to Norway for the annual Wicked Weird and Totally Freaky Trick or Treat Trot by the Lake. This local event with a big name includes a 10K, a 5K and a Wicked Walk, so you can put in plenty of miles or keep it casual with a walk through town. Proceeds benefit The Progress Center and, of course, costumes are encouraged.
Pancake Spook 5K Race + Kids Fun Run

If pancakes are a driver when deciding your weekend plans, you’ll be interested in the family friendly Pancake Spook on Saturday in Gorham. The event is orgaized by GOrham Cooperative Preschool ad icludes a 5K and kids fun run. There will be a costume contest and all kids who particupate will get a free pumpkin, courtesy of Pineland Farms. And best of all, after the races, there’s a pancake breakfast! With PANCAKES.
MVHS Zombie Run

The next event goes out to all you zombies out there. It’s the MVHS Zombie Run taking place in Rumford. Participants will run a two-mile course and – hopefully – stay out of reach of the zombies. If you ARE a zombie, well, there will be a bunch of fresh humans available for your picking. This is a benefit for Mountain Valley High School – and the run isn’t timed, so you can go at your own pace. But not too slow, because, you know, zombies.

And finally, if your body is feeling stiff lately – perhaps because you’ve recently risen from the dead – check out the Spooky Flow yoga class happening at Samudra Studio in Saco. Wear some Halloween ispired appareal or a full-on costume and enjoy some yoga in a room lit by candlelight. There will be spooky music and Samudra will supply some body paint, too. This event is on Tuesday – Halloween eve – and you’ll leave feeling stretched, refreshed, and nearly as good as you did before you became a flesh-eater.
